Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Katherine Bunting-Williams, PhD, RN, MSN, LNHA has been recognized 
for the seventh time by Becker’s Hospital Review, a publication by ASC Communications. Becker’s Hospital Review recently named Katherine Bunting-Williams, PhD, RN, MSN, LNHA to its annual list, “135 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know” and “130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know” for 2016.
According to Becker’s Hospital Review, “The men and women on the list of Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs list lead some of the largest, most successful and prominent nonprofit healthcare organizations in the country. They were selected for this list based on editorial judgment and discretion. Nominations were considered when making selections for this list.”
In addition, Becker’s Hospital Review stated the following about the 130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know, “These 130 women, who are executives at hospitals and health systems across the nation, have established themselves as successful leaders within the continuously evolving healthcare industry. The leaders on the list were selected based on editorial judgment and discretion of members of the Becker’s editorial team, who evaluated leaders for their management and leadership skills and career accomplishments, and also read through and considered a number of nominations.”
In February, Becker’s Hospital Review has named Dr. Bunting- Williams among the “50 Rural Hospital CEOs to know | 2016.” The 50 presidents and CEOs who were named on this list, clearly demonstrate dedication to providing high-quality, accessible care to their communities. Becker’s Hospital Review also recognized that many of the executives named have either received rural healthcare accolades or led their organization to a status worthy of awards and recognition. This statement rings true of the leadership FMH CEO, Katherine Bunting-Williams, Ph.D., has provided Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Under her administration, Fairfield was recognized by the National Organization of State Office of Rural Health and iVantage Health Analytics for overall excellence in outcomes.
In December of 2015, she was named among 131 women hospital and health system leaders to know. The 131 women on this list are executives at hospitals and health systems across the nation, who have established themselves as successful leaders within the ever-changing healthcare industry. The leaders on the list were selected based on editorial judgment and discretion of members of the Becker’s editorial team, who evaluated leaders for their management and leadership skills and career accomplishments and also read through and considered a record number of nominations.
Looking over her tenure, Dr. Bunting-William’s leadership and expertise in the healthcare industry rings strong. Becker’s Hospital Review has previously slated Dr. Bunting to be one of the “Great Health System Executives” to speak at the Becker’s Hospital Review 7th Annual Meeting that was held in Chicago, IL back in April. Some of the individual keynote speakers at Becker’s Hospital Review Annual Meeting were George W. Bush, Howard Dean, and Quint Studer, just to name a few. She has been invited back to speak at the Becker’s Hospital Review 8th Annual Meeting next April.

Dr. Bunting-William’s first recognition by the publication was in the fall of 2010, when Becker’s Hospital Review recognized her as one of the Nation’s Top 50 Women Hospital and Healthcare Leaders. She was recognized specifically for demonstrating outstanding leadership within the hospital and healthcare industry. Also in 2010 she was recognized as being in the top 10% of the Nation’s Hospital CEOS, and then received that same recognition again in 2011, followed by the four latest recognitions and speaking opportunities.
Members of all of these lists were selected for their accomplishments in leading healthcare and hospital organizations, including improvement of patient care, development of relationships between providers and facilitation of organizational growth. Each featured leader was applauded by their colleagues for contributing significant value to the healthcare industry. Katherine Bunting-Williams, PhD, exhibits her healthcare leadership within the state of Illinois, as she has served and is serving in many healthcare leadership positions including: Illinois Hospital Association (IHA) Region 5 Past-President, IHA Small and Rural Hospital Steering Committee Member (2001-Present), IHA Small and Rural Hospital Steering Committee Chairwoman, Illinois Rural Health Association (Past Executive Board Member), Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (Member), and is a member of The American College of Healthcare Executives.
The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team used several resources to develop the list, including nominations, prior Becker’s Hospital Review lists and input from industry experts. After several months of collecting nominations and researching the background of each nominee, the editorial team narrowed the contenders to a list of top leaders. Becker’s Hospital Review repeats this process annually to ensure an up-to-date compendium. In addition, leaders do not pay and cannot pay to be included on the list in order to ensure a non-bias list is published.
