Carmi Police Chief Jason Carter announced this morning that his department along with the White County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a mock “active assailant” scenario at Lincoln Attendance Center on Wednesday, December 7th beginning around 2:45 pm.
No children will be present at the school during the training drill, but teachers from throughout the school district will participate. Chief Carter said in a press release that these drills are important for teachers and law enforcement to be prepared for any type of lock down or active assailant incident.
The public is being advised about the training exercise in advance so that they should not be alarmed by the several law enforcement officers present at the school or if they hear dispatch calls over the radio.
