Country Music Legend and Grand Ole Opry Star Leona Williams is coming to perform at the Mt. Carmel Eagles at 7 p.m. on November 10 to support the Wabash Valley College Tribe Activity Scholarship Students.
With #1 hits like “You Take Me For Granted” and “Someday When Things Are Good” for Merle Haggard, “The Bull and The Beaver” in a Top 10 duet with Merle Haggard, and “Dallas” for country star Connie Smith, Leona Williams and her son, RFD-TV Star Ron Williams, have generously agreed to stop at the Mt. Carmel Eagles on Thursday, November 10 at 7 p.m. to perform a two-hour concert in support of efforts to raise funds for the Tribe students who work in the community and on campus to earn tuition dollars. The group is very excited to bring this talented legend to Mt. Carmel and is looking forward to a great evening of entertainment.
Leona Williams, songwriter and performer, has provided songs and recorded with some of country music’s greatest stars like George Jones and Gene Watson. She was featured in a show in Branson, MO for many years called “The Grand Ladies” with Jean Shepherd and Wanda Jackson. She has recently been seen performing on RFD-TV’s “The Country Family Reunion” hosted by Bill Anderson and Midwest Country TV, while continuing to perform nationally. Her talent is timeless, and her heart shines through her music.
Ron Williams carries on the musical family tradition as an artist on country music’s Heart of Texas Records, a regular host on “The Ernest TubbMidnite Jamboree” out of Nashville, TN, and RFD-TV. He has hit the charts as a songwriter with the song “Something Like This” sung by Joe Diffie. Ron’s singing voice is often compared to Merle Haggard, and for good reason, as he spent many years of his youth under the wing of Merle Haggard, learning from the classic country scene as a child.
The proceeds of this event support the Wabash Valley College Tribe in their efforts to serve the campus and community, from activities like the WVC Community Garden which helps provide fresh foods for the food pantry, to campus events like Zombie Run and Sun Fest Mix Down that provide entertainment and engagement for campus and community alike. The Tribe will be actively promoting this event as will members of the WVC Pathways to Success Music Event Class. Sponsorships are currently being accepted for this event which will also be a part of the event promotion. Tickets will go on sale October 13 and be available for purchase at the Mt.
