New charges against a Saline County man accused in March of killing and burning the body of his estranged wife were announced at a press conference in Harrisburg on Wednesday.
Saline County States Attorney Mike Henshaw told those assembled that Dr. Brian Burns has now been charged with solicitation, conspiracy, and attempted aggravated kidnapping after an investigation into phone calls Burns had made from the Saline County Detention Center. Authorities say that Burns offered $1000 to an undercover detective to kidnap Henshaw.
It has not been decided to turn the case over to a special prosecutor, as Henshaw stated that he will continue to prosecute the murder charges.
A judge set a bond amount of $1 million for Burns on the new charges. That is in addition to the original $1 million bond amount that has kept Burns in custody since his arrest in the death of Carla Burns.
