A Carmi businessman was killed in an accident on Illinois Route 130 Tuesday afternoon according to Illinois State Police District 19.
62 year old Henry Matz was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident that occurred at 1pm a ¼ mile south of Edwards County Road 450N by the Edwards County Coroner. According to the preliminary crash report released by District 19, for unknown reasons, Matz crossed the center line of the highway into the southbound land and struck a semi driven by 35 year old Rodney Sedrick of Mill Spring, Missouri. Sedrick was not injured in the accident.
An ISP Crash Reconstruction Officer and a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer have been assigned to the investigation. The Edwards County Sheriff’s Department, Edwards County Coroner’s office, Illinois Department of Transportation, Albion Police Department, Grayville Police Department, Albion Fire Department, Edwards County Ambulance Service, Rick’s Towing, and Foster’s Towing all assisted ISP at the scene.
