Lincoln Log Cabin welcomes bluegrass musicians and fans Aug. 14

The sounds of guitars, banjos and mandolins will fill the air when Lincoln Log Cabin State Historic Site’s annual bluegrass jam session returns Sunday, Aug. 14.

Musicians from Illinois and Indiana will converge at the site to jam from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While there will be no formal stage performances, informal groups of musicians converge and play at different areas along the creek throughout the day.

Whether you play an instrument or just enjoy listening to bluegrass, you’re welcome to attend. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and make a day of it!

Volunteers will be selling food and drinks, with the proceeds going to support the educational and interpretative programs at Lincoln Log Cabin.

The site is part of the Abraham Lincoln National Heritage area, which spans 42 Illinois counties and tells the story of story of Lincoln in Illinois. The site is eight miles south of Charleston and is open seven days a week for free public tours.

The site is operated by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. IHPA protects the state’s historic resources, which contribute to education, culture and the economy. IHPA sites include ancient burial mounds, forts and buildings erected by settlers, and homes connected to famous Illinoisans.
