The White County Fair Talent Show presented by WROY/WRUL is coming Wednesday, August 3rd to the fairgrounds in Carmi. The show will get underway at 7pm under the grandstand as the night’s featured entertainment. Past performers at the station sponsored event have gone on to make big names for themselves. Just 3 years ago, Tess Boyer from Glen Carbon, IL, won the contest and went on to finish in the top ten of the NBC’s hit show “The Voice”. Other notable winners include Xylinn Warren (our only 3 time winner) and Lance Miller. Grandstand admission will be just $5 making the night of performances one of the most inexpensive at the week long event.
The competition will offer 3 modified divisions. The local show will adopt the state’s rules and entry details to make it possible for the local winner to move on to the state final in January at Springfield. In order to allow anyone of any age to perform, we have adopted a Jr Division for participants 14 and under on the day of our local show. Senior division contestants must not be older than 21 on the day of our local show. In order to accept all of the talent the region has to offer, we’ll award a “Best of Show” overall for our top performer regardless of age. Cash prizes will also be awarded.
Entry details and forms are available on the Events page of https://www.whitecountyfair.com. Questions can be directed to Jc Tinsley at WROY/WRUL by calling 618-382-4161.
