Shawneetown bank robber makes first court appearance Thursday

A Kentucky man made his first appearance in US District Court in Benton on Thursday and was charged with robbing the Grand Rivers Community Bank in Shawneetown.

32 year old Marcus Howard Householder of Reed, KY was indicted earlier this week by a federal grand jury, charging him with stealing $6349 on June 14th.

At the arraignment, Householder was ordered held without bond and remanded to the custody of the US Marshall.  He is next scheduled to appear in court on August 24.

The investigation into the robbery was conducted by the Carmi office of the Illinois State Police Zone 7 Investigations Unit with assistance from the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Department, the Shawneetown Police Department, the Kentucky State Police, Webster Co, KY Sheriff’s Department, Union Co, KY Sheriff’s Department, and the FBI.
