IECC Board of Trustees Meeting – 05-17-2016

Dr. Ryan Gower was employed as President of Lincoln Trail College, Robinson at the regular meeting of the IECC Board of Trustees held Tuesday, May 17, at Wabash Valley College, Mt. Carmel.   A detailed contract will be presented for approval at the June 21st Board meeting.

            Dr. Gower is currently Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Affairs and the Director of the Illinois Academic Enrichment and Leadership Program at the College of Applied Health Services at the University of Illinois.  He has been with the University of Illinois since July 1999 as Academic Advisor/Lecturer, Instructor, Coordinator of Internships, and Director of Undergraduate Studies.

            Dr. Gower is expected to begin the duties of President at Lincoln Trail College in early July.

            Students like Illinois Eastern Community Colleges, according to the results of the latest Student Satisfaction Survey.            Of the 682 survey participants, 96 percent indicated they were satisfied with the overall quality of instruction and 97 percent believe they were treated with respect as an individual.

            The IECC Office of Institutional Development conducts the survey each Spring semester. The 2016 survey was conducted online from March 14th through April 8th. Of the students who completed the survey, 207 were from FCC, 209 from LTC, 126 from OCC, and 140 from WVC.

            Survey questions included areas in Communications, Building and Grounds Maintenance, Advisement Services, Registration Services, Financial Aid Services, Learning Resource Centers, Technology Services, Instructional Classroom Services, and recommending the college to others.

            The trustees approved the updated Distance Delivery Education Plan for 2016.  The purpose of the plan is to provide an institutional strategy and structure to support and promote district-wide distance delivery opportunities.  Distance delivered education provides flexible, accessible programs and courses and takes place in the form of online instruction via the Internet and hybrid courses.

A Program Articulation Agreement between IECC and the University of Southern Indiana was approved.  This agreement formalizes the articulation that currently exists between the Radio/TV program offered by Wabash Valley College (WVC) and the Communications with Radio and TV emphasis program offered by USI.   This agreement will allow IECC and USI to formalize the current cooperative relationship to better serve IECC students by facilitating transfer, minimizing duplication of instruction and build on community college and university learning experiences.

            Luke Stuckey was employed as Head Men’s Basketball Coat at LTC, effective May 5, 2016.

Luke Scheidecker was employed as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at WVC, effective May 23, 2016.

            Two resignations were accepted:  Adam Greathouse as Assistant Dean of Student Services at OCC, effective May 20, 2016 and Chad Schuetz as Information System Technician at OCC effective May 14, 2016.

            The following personnel will retire:

            Diana Emmons, Assistant Program Director of Cosmetology, effective June 1, 2016.

            Lucinda Wingert, Database Specialist at the District Office, effective June 1, 2016.

            Juanita Medler, Clerk/Receptionist at FCC, effective July 1, 2016.

            The $36,750 bid of Gill Excavating LLC, Mt. Erie, IL, was accepted for Phase One Excavation for the FCC Baseball Field Construction.

            Seven affiliation agreements were approved between IECC and area health care related businesses and offices dealing with Programs in Emergency Response Training, Health Informatics, Pharmacy Technician, Certified Medical Assistant and Electronic Medical Records.

            Next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held at Frontier Community College, Fairfield, Tuesday, June 21, at 7 p.m.
