26 year old Zachary Bassemier of Carmi was arrested by Carmi Police following a traffic stop Friday afternoon on a charge of driving on a revoked license. Bassemier was pulled over on 7th Street and taken into custody at 2pm. Bassemier was also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and transported to the White County Jail, where he was released after posting a $150 bond.
Later on Friday afternoon, Carmi Police arrested 40 year old Mandy Sparrow of Carmi for driving while license suspended at 3:28pm. Sparrow was pulled over in the Tie On Roofing parking lot and taken to the White County Jail, where she posted a $150 bond and was released.
Friday night, Carmi Police responded to a call about a man walking on the railroad tracks between East Main Street and the tressel. Just before 7pm, officers made contact with the man who identified himself as Ronald Randy Cone. A records check came back with a warrant for a Ronnie M Cone from Wabash County for failure to appear on a charge of DUI. After questioning, the man admitted to being Ronnie Cone, and he was arrested on the warrant and additionally charged with obstructing justice and criminal trespass. Cone is being held without bail at the White County Jail pending a court hearing.
Carmi Police responded to a call about two male subjects attempting to gain access to a building at Burrell’s Woods Saturday night at 10:45pm. Upon arrival, officers found Alton Folz and Justin Schmahlenberger, both 19 and from Mt. Vernon, Indiana present at the entrance of the park. Folz and Schmahlenberger were both taken into custody on charges of illegal possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor. Both were transported to the White County Jail and released after posting a $150 bond each.
