Hoskins Shares About Career with Texas Eastern Transmission at Kiwanis

Hoskins Kiwanis2

The Carmi Kiwanis Club heard from Phil Hoskins about his career with the Texas Eastern Transmission at their meeting on April 14.  Hoskins began work on May 15, 1972 and retired from Spectra Energy on March 1, 2016.  Hoskins retired as an analyst, a position he held since 1989, and is likely the only person in White County to ever hold the position.

Hoskins gave a history of the pipeline that began as a war emergency pipeline in 1942 at the cost of $95 million spanning from Longview, Texas to Norris City, Illinois.   Throughout his career, he traveled to Texas, Arizona, Florida, Tennessee, much of the northeastern United States and Canada.

Hoskins diagnosed pipeline transmission engines and equipment, tested software, presented case studies at conferences and work with vendors on research and development.  He also commissioned equipment at the Gas City, Indiana plant in 1992.

In club business, President Alan Saunders reminded the club of the Kelly Miller Circus that will be at the White County Fairgrounds on April 27.  The club also discussed  the Corn Day theme.
