At Thursday’s Rotary meeting, Janice Alka from the Mt. Carmel club was the guest speaker. She is over the Mt. Carmel, Fairfield, Lawrenceville and Carmi clubs. Her purpose was to bring the members up to speed with what is happening in the district as well as Rotary International. There will be a District Assembly on April 23rd at John A. Logan College. She told us that upcoming district governor David Matthews will visit the Carmi club on September 15. The District conference will be held in November in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She talked to members about the Belize Crippled Children’s program that is sponsored by the district as well as the Polio Plus and water well programs. Rotary has many humanitarian projects going on worldwide as well as district wide. She also explained to members how to use the DACA base program to be able to report things and to keep in touch. The members thanked Janice on bringing members up to speed on what is going on in Rotary.

In club business, members discussed ideas about the May fundraiser. Janice Alka was the lucky winner in the 50/50 drawing and but did not select the pink ball so the pot rolls over. Cindy Conley named Morris McCall the phantom. Andy Williams and Little Giant prepared a delicious meal for the Rotarians Pictures are provided by Kenny Harrelson. The club meets at noon on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. Anyone wishing to get involved is encouraged to come help Rotary with the many local projects and charities that are supported.
