One of the hottest stage shows in the country rolls into the Brubeck Theatre on the Wabash Valley College campus in Mt. Carmel on Sunday, April 3 with the Patsy Cline tribute show, “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline.” Wabash Valley College and the Wabash Valley Arts Council are pleased to bring this popular show to the Brubeck Theatre for a 1:30 p.m. performance. “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline” is a loving tribute to the country music legend, Patsy Cline. This upbeat musical reveals the emotional depth and vocal range of Patsy Cline, a singer whose career made history defining the term “crossover hit” by dominating country, blues, pop, and gospel charts simultaneously in the 1950’s and early 1960’s.
Throughout “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline,” Little Big Man, a disk jockey from her hometown of Winchester, VA, traces the late singer’s footsteps from early honky-tonk and radio days through her rise at the Grand Ole Opry plus her appearances at Carnegie Hall and Las Vegas. Our “Patsy,” backed by a live band, performs 22 of Cline’s greatest hits, including “Walkin’ after Midnight,” “Sweet Dreams,” “I Fall To Pieces,” and “Crazy.” The audience is treated to a stunning array of elaborate show costumes from Cline’s signature red and white fringed Opry outfit to the glimmering sequined gown worn for her Carnegie Hall appearance.
Although she will never be replaced, “A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline” is an amazing celebration of the music of her life.
Sandia Ahlers is a popular American singer, dancer, and actor who comes from an extended family of Patsy Cline fanatics. “I’ve been listening to Patsy for as long as I can remember,” this Arkansas native admits, “and it’s such an honor to celebrate her legacy with this show. She is my grandmother’s favorite singer, so I think of her every time I perform.” Sandia began singing in school choruses, church choirs, and eventually studied voice formally with private teachers and at the University of Central Florida where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Musical Theatre. Thousands of Americans remember her as the sassy Ramona Juracko in last year’s acclaimed national tour of Della’s Diner. She has performed leading roles in such musicals as Anything Goes, Legally Blonde, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Marvelous Wonderettes, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and The Wizard of Oz.
