Brent and Sydnie Hammell from the Centerville Ripsnorters 4-H Club were just a few that helped serve at the annual 4-H pork chop supper.

The White County 4-H had an excellent turnout for their annual pork chop dinner fundraiser Saturday evening. More than 750 dinners were served during the three hour fundraiser. The support of the people in White County is the major reason 4-H is still a vital part of this community. The monetary support of people buying tickets for the dinner, as well as, the donation of time and materials by others, allows the 4-H members to accomplish many things.

Amy McCarty, the University of Illinois Extension 4-H Coordinator, expressed her thanks to all the people who made this event a great success. She stated, ”The 4-H members, their parents, the club leaders, and other volunteers all came together and worked very hard for many hours to pull everything together. One person who deserves specific praise is Liz Masterson. Liz is the coordinator of this whole event. Without her and her husband Craig, things would have been a lot more difficult.”

More than 100 youth, parents, and friends of 4-H assisted throughout the evening or donated supplies and desserts. Money raised by the White Co. Support Committee, from the pork chop dinner, is used to fund 4-H college scholarships, trip fees, awards, project manuals, t-shirts, ribbons, and various other needs of the White County 4-H members and clubs.
