SIC Archery Team Gives Back

Alli Armstrong presents check to SIC Foundation

SIC archery national champ, Alli Armstrong, with Coach Archie Blair (left), presents a check to David Port for the SIC Foundation.

Alli Armstrong, a student at Southeastern Illinois College and member of its national championship archery team, presents a check for $2,000 to SIC Foundation Chairman David Port of Carmi as part of the team’s efforts to give back to the communities that have so strongly supported the archery program. The presentation was made during the Foundation’s quarterly meeting in February.

Armstrong, who is from Hardin County, was the top salesperson during a campaign last fall to raise money for student scholarships at Southeastern. She was crowned the Division I National Champion in Women’s Bow Hunter by the US Collegiate Archery Association (USCAA) in October, following a stellar performance competing against the top collegiate women archers in the country. Armstrong also was named Academic All-American by USCAA.

According to SIC’s head archery coach, Archie Blair, the team and the Foundation again will join forces by sponsoring a bow fishing tournament July 23-24 to raise additional money for student success at the college. Blair feels that community service is an extremely important part of the team’s mission and overall success.
