White County Sheriff’s Department investigating two burglaries

The White County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of attempted theft that occurred at the Interstate 64 rest stop at the 130 mile marker.  Michigan based truck driver Christopher Drause told deputies that he had parked there on Friday night and went to sleep.  When he got ready to leave on Saturday morning, he found someone had cut the lock on the rear doors of the semi.  Drause said that the doors were open, but there was no cargo in the trailer at the time of the attempted theft.

Deputies also responded to a report of a break in on County Road 1700 North.  Andrea Hays told deputies she is in the process of cleaning out the property for sale, and that someone between Tuesday and Saturday forced open the door to an unattached garage and cut the lock to a cellar door.  Hays didn’t know what all was taken, but deputies did find items that could be used for latent fingerprint evidence.
