
A Carmi woman is due in court following her arrest Thursday evening. Carmi Police say they picked up 27-year-old Natalie Sword at the intersection of Fair and 11th just after 6:30pm Thursday. She was pulled over, according to the report, for driving with an expired registration and the vehicle description not matching the registration. Further investigation resulted in her arrest and charges of Driving while License Suspended, Unlawful Display of Registration, and cited for Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. She was released with a Notice to Appear just after 8pm the same day.
Carmi Police also made arrests of two out of towners Saturday. The first happened just before 4pm when an officer pulled over 22-year-old Jessica Loyd of Olney on East Main Street. According to the report, Loyd had no front registration on a brown Chevy Malibu and when questioned, she gave the officer a false name. Further investigation revealed her identify resulting in an arrest for Obstructing Justice and Driving while License Suspended. Loyd also had Failure to Appear warrants out of both Wayne and Richland County. The Richland County warrant is related to a Possession of Meth conviction.
At about a quarter till 8pm Saturday, officers pulled over 30-year-old Jonathon Heath of Albion for not having a working registration light. Heath would be subsequently placed behind bars in relation to an active White County Warrant for Failure to Appear. That warrant is for a charge of Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Registration Suspended for Mandatory Insurance. He remains behind bars as of Monday morning.
Late Sunday night, Carmi Police pulled over 24-year-old Dezra Williams of Stewart Street on Sunnybrook for having only one headlight. The traffic stop occurred just before 11pm. During the traffic stop, Carmi officers say they saw raw cannabis in plain view prompting the arrest of Williams on a charge of Possession of Medical Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle. She was subsequently booked and released with a Notice to Appear. She’ll be due in court on May 27th.
