The Black Diamond Conference has released the 2024-2025 BDC East All-Conference Team, and Mitchel Edwards and Gavin Holloman once again see their name on the list.
Edwards was named Captain of the BDC East after averaging 21.9 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game while shooting 31% from 3-point range and 76% from the free throw line.
Edwards re-wrote the CWC Boys Basketball history books throughout his 4-year varsity career. Edwards made 255 three-pointers in his career, more than anyone in CWCHS history. He finished his career with 1,742 total points scored, more than any boy in CWCHS history and he sits 3rd all-time in CWCHS history behind just Abby Vaughan (1,864) and Jennifer Goin (1,952). He also broke the CWCHS single-game scoring record twice, scoring 47 points against Sparta on December 2nd, before breaking that record and scoring 55 points against Wayne City on February 15th.
“I’ve coached so many good players in my 10 years of coaching, but he is the best player I’ve ever coached,” said CWC head coach Kevin Wolff.
Edwards’ running mate and partner-in-crime, Gavin Holloman was also named to the BDC East All-Conference Team.
Holloman battled multiple different injuries throughout his senior year as he only played in 16 games, but in those 16 games he made an important impact for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs went 10-6 with Holloman on the floor, going just 4-9 without him this season. Holloman averaged 11.5 points per game while shooting 62% from the free throw line. Holloman surpassed the 1,000 point mark in the Bulldogs’ biggest win of the season, a 53-49 victory over Hamilton County.
“I’m so proud of Gavin for the way he fought this year, because he was never really fully healthy,” said Wolff. “I thanked him for giving it all he had.”
Edwards and Holloman are the first CWCHS teammates to reach 1,000 career points since Keegan Dennis and Tyler Choate in 2006.
Holloman will continue his athletic career at Olney Central College this fall to play baseball, Edwards has numerous offers to play basketball at the next level but has yet to commit.
