Crossville firefighters are getting new equipment thanks to a grant. At Tuesday night’s Crossville Village Board meeting, it was announced the grant worth more than $22,000 had been awarded which will pay for 3 air packs and face pieces. Mayor Henry Feldmann also says a fire station rehabilitation application has been submitted worth up to $350,000.
We sent off a grant for a new fire house. This is a fire station rehabilitation and construction grant application. What this is is $350,000 of free money. So we’ve got everything together and a rough cost estimate on everything that needs to be done for the fire house and got it sent off today. We won’t know anything on it until June. I am gonna tell you guys, in that we may have to put a little bit with it whenever, if we get it and I hope like hell we get it, and I don’t have a problem with that because if we get $350,000 of free money, I think we can afford to put something with it.
Greater Wabash Planning Corporation helped identify the opportunity and with the grant application. If Crossville gets the grant, Feldmann says the new fire house would be on property owned by the village over by the elevator.
Also Tuesday night, Konnie Harrington was given a permit to remove or demolish a vacant mobile home on Morell Street. Mayor Feldmann also reported the fence was now up around the pickleball court at the park and the bathroom is scheduled to arrive in the coming month most likely. There is still a lock on it because it’s not completely ready to play on yet. Finally, trustees were updated on the walking path damage. Feldmann says someone mistook the path for a road and got stuck on it. Leaders will look into getting it fixed and the individual who caused the damage will be responsible for it according to the mayor.
The meeting adjourned at 6:41pm. The mayor and trustees will reconvene for their first of two March meetings on March 11th at 6:30pm.
