Grayville Leaders Efficient with Time Monday Night

With no executive session and no major business on the agenda, Grayville leaders breezed through a 14 minute meeting Monday night.  Mayor Travis Thompson was absent to coach the Grayville Bison against Red Hill leaving Commissioner Andi Ford to serve as Mayor Pro Tem.

Following the issues with lift station pumps, council agreed to spend $5,720 to Straeffer Pump to have the company do some preventative maintenance.  Utility manager Scott Irvine agreed it was a smart idea.  Additionally, Council went through a first reading of ordinance 966 which would approve the buy back of property at 135 Koehler Street.  The city sold that property to Sarah Weber in late September.  Ford explains.

This is a buy back, yes.  We had originally agreed to sell this tract to Sarah Weber and she has asked us if we would purchase it back.  What she had planned is not able to continue at this time.

The price is $5,000; same as what the property was sold to Weber.  Council will have a second reading and is expected to approve it at the March 10th meeting.

Beyond that, council heard updates from Rex Gower with Milano and Grunloh Engineering and received a utility department update from Irvine.  City Attorney Jay Walden reported that there should be utility deposit ordinance information should show up on the agenda for the next meeting.  Ford says she and Treasurer Sharon Walden have been working on the next fiscal year budget.  She says it’s been going well and expects to have some information available at the March 10th meeting.
