The Carmi-White County Boys Basketball team defeated West Frankfort last night in the Quarterfinal Round of the IHSA 2A Regionals by a final score 53-50.
The Bulldogs trailed by as many as 8 in the 4th quarter, trailing 46-38 with 5:45 to play. Carmi ended the game on a 15-4 run, but West Frankfort had a chance to win it and then a chance to tie it in the final seconds, but failed to score in both situations.
Mitchel Edwards led the Bulldogs in scoring with 21 points.
Gavin Holloman scored 14 points.
Beck Huff scored 8 points.
Kade Stockton and Merick Millhorn both scored 4.
Cade Allen scored 2 points.
The Bulldogs improve to 14-14 on the year, they advance to the Regional Semifinals tomorrow night in Hamilton County as they will face the Benton Rangers.
The Rangers are 26-4 on the season, and they are currently ranked as the #3 Team in 2A. This will be the 2nd time these two teams have met this season, the Rangers defeated Carmi 67-38 back on December 21st.
If the Bulldogs win tomorrow night, they will face either Carterville or Hamilton County for the Regional Championship Game on Friday.
