
The Carmi-White County School Board had another brief meeting Tuesday night, lasting just six minutes. It was held on Tuesday due to Monday being President’s Day and started two hours earlier at 5 PM due to the approaching snowstorm. Scott Mareing was there and has this report…
The first order of business was approving the Consent Agenda:
It included the Human Resources Consultant Agreement. The contract with Bushue Human Resources, Inc. of Effingham was renewed for three years for human resources support and insurance management to the district for fees of $7,500 in the first year, $7,560 in the second, and $7,620 in year three.
It set the junior high completion ceremony for May 22nd at 6 PM, high school graduation for May 13th at 7 PM, and baccalaureate for May 11th at 6 PM in the high school auditorium. Brownsville School graduation is May 23rd at 10:30 AM.
And 33 donations went to the Brownsville School for a total amount of $1.935. Donations ranged from $10 to $200.
In the Superintendent’s Report, Jarrod Newell noted that the spring musical “The Wizard of Oz” will be performed by the CWCHS Fine Arts Department March 14th to the 16th. Students and staff will be on Spring Break from March 31st to April 4th. And to date, they have used six emergency days due to the weather. The last attendance day for students will be May 29th and the last day for staff with be May 30th. Newell also thanked all of those involved in making sure everyone was able to get to school safely.
With no unfinished business or new business to discuss, the board went into Closed Session at 5:06 PM for personnel and collective negotiations.
During closed session, the board approved three resignations: Kim Murphy as a Junior High School Classroom Aide, Trey Mason as the Junior high Athletic Director and High School Boys and Girls Golf Coach, Marcus Lynn as the 6th Grade Boys Basketball Coach, as well as the Junior High Assistant Baseball and Assistant Track Coach. Three volunteers were accepted: Peighton Masterson for the Junior High Volleyball, Ryan Williams 5th Grade Girls Basketball, and Chris Pollard 5th Grade Boys Basketball.
Employments for CWC include: Chris Courty as the High School Boy’s Tennis Coach, Camden Stewart for High School Assistant Baseball Coach, Ryan Bruder for Junior High Assistant Girls Track Coach, Clinton Wolff as the High School Athletic Director and High School Head Football Coach, and an addition to the Ag Department for the High School Ag Teacher Grace Glaser.
