Amended charges have been filed against Clayton Andrew Swanner of Crossville following the death of Cathy S. Brandenstein. The new charges include three counts of first degree murder and remove one count of aggravated battery.
Counts I through III charge Swanner with First Degree Murder stating Swanner intended to kill or do great bodily harm to his mother Cathy S. Brandenstein, after starting a fire in the residence of 1101 Superior Avenue in Crossville, shoving Brandenstein into the fire and holding her in the fire, thereby causing her death on January 10, 2020.
Counts IV and V charge Swanner with Aggravated Arson.
Count VI charges Swanner with Residential Arson.
Count VII charges Swanner with Aggravated Domestic Battery for knowingly causing great bodily harm to Brandenstein.
Bail has been set at $1 million.
