Thaxton Sentenced to 5 Years in the IDOC in White County Court Monday

A 22 year old Harrisburg man, Zachary M. Thaxton will spend the next 5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections following his sentencing Monday in White County Court on a Class 3 felony charge of Criminal Damage to Government Property. Thaxton was convicted of damaging property at Burrell’s Woods by spray painting a pavilion and other parts of the park this past summer. Thaxton’s case was investigated by the Carmi Police Department. He was represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle. Honorable T. Scott Webb was the presiding judge that handed down the sentence at the conclusion of the sentencing hearing. Thaxton was also ordered to pay restitution to the City of Carmi. His stay will be followed by 1 year of Mandatory Supervised Release.
