A 32 year old Carmi man, Phillip Scott Burton, is being held in the White County Jail on $5,000 bond, following his arrest by Carmi Police Thursday afternoon at Murphy’s USA. Officers received information that he was coming into town in a black SUV. Burton was wanted on a felony warrant for Escape. He was also charged with illegal possession of cannabis in a vehicle after he tried to ditch the cannabis as Officers walked up. Burton was also charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia due to a meth pipe with meth in it being found in his pocket at the time of the arrest.
