Starting in the new year more than 250 new laws will take effect in the state of Illinois. Several of the laws are to protect construction workers along state highways, including doubling the fines for someone who hits a construction worker. Starting January first, anyone who hits a construction worker could face fines up to twenty-five thousand dollars.
