CPD Continues to Investigate Stolen Trailer

Carmi Police continue to investigate the theft of a 2001 black US cargo box trailer valued at about $2,500 and 20 sets of scaffold, braces, wheels, and boards that were in the trailer valued at about $8,000. Thursday morning, Carmi Police received a call from Jim Sharp that one of his trailers at the new Subway worksite had been stolen. When workers arrived at the site they noticed the trailer was missing and contacted Sharp. The trailer was parked on College Boulevard just south of Main Street.

A check of Carmi-White County High School surveillance footage shows a dark blue over silver Chevy Silverado pull onto College Boulevard at 6:28 am. A short time later the truck can be seen with the trailer attached heading east on Main Street. The truck is also seen on other business’ surveillance footage driving east bound on Main Street and driving across the Little Wabash River Bridge into East Carmi. The truck is then seen on Maier’s Grocery surveillance continuing northbound on Route 1 through Crossville. Officers with the Grayville Police Department are checking footage in Grayville to see if the truck continues on Route 1 or turns off prior to reaching Grayville.
