White County Sheriff’s Department Makes Two Arrests on Multiple Charges Following Burglary Report

37 year old Matthew Levi Frashier of Carmi and 25 year old Celina J. Prince of Maunie are behind bars in the White County Jail following their arrest Friday afternoon on Burglary charges. Frashier is also booked on Felony charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Escape from a Peace Officer, Theft/Possession of Stolen Property, and a Misdemeanor charge of Driving while License is Suspended or Revoked. Prince was additionally charged with Felony Theft under $500 and Obstructing Justice. A White County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to 1671 East at 925 North in Maunie, where Danny Harris told the officer he had been the victim of a possible burglary to his machine shed. Upon arrival, the Deputy spoke with Frashier and Prince who said they had came to the location to check on a residence for Nina Hankins who is currently in jail. They said they had driven a motorcycle to the residence and it quit, so the pair searched for a battery charger to try and start the motorcycle. Harris, who has been the victim of burglary in the past to his machine shed, had a trail camera, that was missing, set up that sent  pictures to his phone of Frashier and Prince inside his locked machine shed. The pair lied to the Deputy about being inside the machine shed. Frashier was handcuffed and placed under arrest, when he gave the officer his brother Josh’s name rather than his own. After checking his identification it was determined the individual arrested was Matthew Frashier not Josh Frashier. A pat down of Frashier revealed a wooden one hitter box with cannabis in his right front pants pocket and an orange container with 1 gram of methamphetamine in a plastic baggy and other small items in his left pocket. While the Deputy was speaking with Harris, who located the missing trail camera with the battery and sim card removed, Frashier got out of the Deputy’s truck, held up his hands and said, “Not going to Jail.” Frashier  somehow slipped one of his hands out of the handcuffs and ran into a farm field with a ditch. The Deputy called for backup and the officers were able to locate Frashier in a ditch and took him back into custody. When officers ran the VIN number on the motorcycle it came back as stolen out of Evansville, Indiana. The key switch had been tampered with and the motorcycle was hot wired. While, Cherry Street was called to the scene to tow the motorcycle, the Deputy located 4 AA batteries that had been in the trail camera inside the pocket of a jacket laying on the motorcycle and a glass container with cannabis inside the saddle bag. As Frashier was being processed at the White County Jail, officers found the SIM card from the trail camera, which showed Frashier and Prince inside the machine shed and a cannabis cigarette inside a pack of cigarettes. Prince was already on 2 years probation with 6 months jail time stayed on charges just days prior for Retail Theft and Domestic Battery. Both are being held without bond.
