This Friday, October 4th, Carmi Family Dental will hold their annual Dentistry From The Heart event. Megan Raber was a guest on a recent Open Line program and she explains what Dentistry From The Heart is and how it works…
“It’s a free dentistry day. The doors open at 6 o’clock in the morning and it is on a first come, first serve basis. We offer dental cleanings, extractions, and fillings. It is a one per patient situation. If you need a cleaning and a filling, I would put down for the filling because that is something that is bothering you. We want to get that taken care of first and then you can get back in line for a cleaning or we can schedule you for a cleaning later. The more prominent problem is what we need to address.”
Raber says this is the 7th year Carmi Family Dental has held a Dentistry From The Heart event. She says even though their waiting area has expanded, people start lining up as early as 2:00 am in the parking lot, so folks may wish to bring a lawn chair and a jacket. Megan went on to talk about who qualifies for the free dental services…
“Anyone that is 18 years or older that does not have dental insurance. Our office is not recognized by the Medical Card/Medicaid so we don’t count that. If you have a medical card we won’t count that so you would apply for that.”
This year’s Dentistry From The Heart is made possible by several sponsors says Raber…
“We’ve got some local sponsors that we are super excited that they joined with us again: Joiner Therapy here in Carmi, James Cook, State Farm, Carmi Dimaggio’s, Citizen’s National Bank of Albion, and also Karen McKinney of Locust Hills Collection. Those have all sponsored to help costs of the products and stuff that we use.”
Dentistry From The Heart begins at 6:00 am on Friday, October 4th and will go until there is no longer a need for the services or until the dentists can no longer serve patients. Again, Carmi Family Dental wants to remind patients to be prepared to wait as the lines are long at times and the wait time can be rather lengthy.
