Carmi Rotary Club Met Thursday: Trivia Coming Up In November

The Carmi Rotary club had a very short meeting on Thursday, as several members were out of town or busy with work.

Diane Mason was on hand as a guest, and was visiting to thank the club for the recent donation that allowed her organization to purchase a new CPR “dummy” for training. The club expressed an interest in having a training class sometime in the near future on CPR during one of the Thursday meetings.

The club discussed the upcoming trivia contest, which will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at the American Legion in Carmi. As in year’s past, the cost for a four-person team will be forty dollars, and there are three cash prizes available to the top teams.

Questions will be asked from categories such as: history, pop culture, geography, the Bible, sports, and many others. There are ten questions per round, four rounds in the contest.

This has become Rotary’s biggest fundraiser, and is a very fun and popular event here in Carmi. If anyone is looking for a great way to spend a Saturday evening, make plans to attend this year’s Fall trivia event. The first question will be asked at 6:00pm and the night usually wraps up around 8:00.

In club business, Tom Logan won the 50/50 drawing and managed to pull the winning ball to claim the day’s cash prize. Patrick Haskell was named the day’s phantom.

The Carmi Rotary club meets every Thursday at noon at the First United Methodist Church on Main Street in Carmi. Anyone wishing to learn more about this civic organization is welcome to attend a meeting or speak with any Carmi Rotarian.
