New Officers Elected to Carmi Chamber of Commerce

In less than a month, a couple hundred of Carmi’s business elite will gather for the annual Chamber of Commerce Dinner.  The assembly, scheduled for Monday, October 7th, typically serves as an opportunity for the mayor to give a brief “State of the City” address and to hand out multiple awards for a Citizen of the Year as well as small and large businesses of the year.  This year, the chamber is expected to enter into actual business session temporarily as the executive committee is looking to make some alterations to the group’s by-laws.  It’s not unheard of, but it’s not an every year occurrence either.  The last time by-laws were adjusted was about a decade ago.
In addition to that, the Chamber will welcome 5 new board members including a new officer who will fall in line to serve as Chamber president in 2023.  Lacey Harms has accepted the role as officer for the Chamber.  Her committee will be made up of Jeremy Jordan, an owner at Campbell Funeral Homes, Caitlin Keepes, CPA with Dartt and Company, LLC, Larissa Hays, Branch Manager for First Bank, and Sarah Hale.  Brittany Bayley-Murray will also join the board taking a vacated spot.
The annual dinner will be held at the Carmi VFW this year, marking the first time in nearly a decade the assembly wasn’t held at the First Christian Church.  Drinks, appetizers and socializing will be enjoyed beginning at 6:30pm with the dinner, to be catered by Yesterdays, planned for 7pm.  This year’s keynote will be delivered by Robert Scott Wylie.  A Carmi native, Wylie is a successful attorney who continues to and has served on numerous local non profit boards.
Reservations for the dinner will be required.  Executive Director Shana Northcott will be sending out information next week.  For additional details or to RSVP in advance you can phone the office at 382 – 7606 or email [email protected].
