New Harmony Bridge Authority Appointments Announced

Governor JB Pritzker has announced multiple appointments recently including two locals to the newly formed New Harmony Bridge Authority.  Among them, Spud Egbert, a long time member of the White County Bridge Commission has been selected to serve.  Egbert spent 23 years as Treasurer for that group.

Additionally, Pritzker has placed Ellen Schanzle-Haskins on the New Harmony Bridge Authority.  The attorney of more than 4 decades was Chief Counsel to IDOT from ’03 to ’13 and was involved with legal issues related to the reconstruction and reopening of the McKinley Bridge, the East St. Louis MLK Bridge and also construction of the $654 million Stan Musial Memorial Bridge.

Also selected to serve on the NHBA is Sara Brown from Carmi who owns and operates her own small business, Sara’s Harmonie Way in New Harmony.  She knows first-hand what the closure of the bridge has meant to the business community and commuters.

The appointments come after Indiana folks met 2 weeks ago and clears the way for officials to get together again.  The New Harmony bridge has been closed since 2012.
