Belligerent Woman Arrested By McLeansboro Police Saturday Morning

A 45 year old former Florida resident spent part of her weekend in the White County Jail after causing a ruckus following the McLeansboro Fall Festival in the early Saturday morning hours.  McLeansboro Police Chief Nathan Taylor says one of his officers was struck by the belligerent woman who refused to comply.  The initial call came in after 2:30am Saturday morning stating the woman refused to leave a South Marshall Street address.  While law enforcement attempted to locate the woman, a second call came in of the woman at 902 Circle Drive causing issues and refusing to leave.  That’s where Officer Kelsey Bowman located 45 year old Anessa Barnett, who is reportedly homeless.  Once a signed complaint was obtained, Barnett allegedly struck the official.  Bowman eventually got the upper hand however and arrested Barnett for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Aggravated Battery of a Police Officer.  As of our last check, Barnett was no longer lodged in the jail.  Online records don’t yet show a court appearance date for Barnett.
