Ford Model A Burns Following Steering Failure

An antique vehicle crashed and burned Saturday near Burnt Prairie.  A Sheriff’s Deputy was called to an area north of County Road 775 East just before 9am in reference to a burning vehicle.  The Carmi Fire Department was also dispatched.

77 year old George Vines of Burnt Prairie told the deputy he had been driving the 1929 Ford Model A when the steering failed.  The vehicle exited the roadway and traveled down an embankment before coming to rest in a tree line.

Arrangements have been made to have the vehicle removed.
