A handful of young males aged 14 to 16 have learned a valuable lesson about responsible pranks after White County Sheriff’s authorities were contacted about an attempted child abduction. The White County Sheriff’s office says two boys, age 7 and 9 told their parents a van had pulled up beside them while they were walking, asked if they needed a ride and offered them candy.
The Sheriff indicates in his report that he received information about the owner of the vehicle and was able to determine the 4 individuals inside that van. . All four juveniles and their parents then were summoned to the Sheriff’s office and admitted they were just trying to be funny. The sheriff says after talking to the young men, they said they understood the seriousness of the situation and the anxiety they caused.
The report has been forwarded to States Attorney Denton Aud for consideration on whether to file criminal charges.
