The White County Fair gets underway on Monday, August 5th and kicks off with the Queen Pageant set for 7pm at the grandstand. Pageant Director Hannah Sailer says as of now, there are 6 contestants for Little Miss, 3 for Junior Miss and 3 contestants for White County Fair Queen. Girls considering signing up will still have an opportunity through July 30th, but will miss practices as they get underway next week. Queen contestants will begin practice this coming Monday, July 22nd. All contestants begin practice on July 29th through August 1st. Other highlights of the 141st Annual White County Fair include harness racing planned for Tuesday, August 6th. A new event, The Honey Bear dancers will entertain on Wednesday. It’s described as a kids dance workshop designed specifically for kids aged 3 – 18.
On Thursday, another new event Dirt Track Go Kart Racing will take place beginning at 7. Greg O’Neal and Brent Speir of Grayville are heading up the event.
On Friday, the Wooten Rodeo brings bucking broncs and snot slinging bulls to the White County Fair. In addition, miniature bull riding will be featured as well as barrel racing.
And Saturday, August 10th the White County Fair comes to a close with the annual Demolition Derby headed up by organizer Chad Bandy.
The other highlight will be bingo at the White County Fair Floral Hall. It will be available courtesy of the Carmi Elks Lodge Tuesday through Saturday. Tuesday and Wednesday nights, there will be a single session at 6pm. Second sessions will be added Thursday through Saturday with 10 games per session and a carry over blackout jackpot.
