The White County Sheriff’s Department fielded a call of what could be considered a near disturbance Sunday evening. 29 year old Nicholas Travelstead alerted deputies during what was to be a routine exchange of children through shared custody. The report indicates 25 year old Michelle Yates was bringing the two children Travelstead and Yates share back to Nicholas. During the exchange, Travelstead’s girlfriend, 22 year old Heather Bowlby allegedly got out of the car to assist the 5 and 1 year old into Travelstead’s vehicle. Travelstead says then that Yates and Bowlby exchanged words before Yates’ friend 19 year old Kirsty Rain McDonald exited Yate’s vehicle and made her way towards Bowlby. Travelstead says Bowlby believed McDonald was going to hit her, but stopped short. By then, Travelstead had already picked up his phone and called. Travelstead says that was the end of the exchange with McDonald and Yates leaving skid marks on the roadside as they sped away. Bowlby gave a statement and signed a complaint for assault by McDonald.
An incident report was filed late Friday night concerning property and familial neighbors in Enfield. 55 year old Kimberly Duckworth reported her home had been broken into during the day through the garage and she believes it was her son, 27 year old James E. Steele. Both of the properties are allegedly owned by Duckworth’s parents and she says are for sale. The responding officer did say he saw damage to the garage area. Duckworth says she will follow up with the Sheriff’s Department after talking to other neighbors in determining if anyone had witnessed what had happened.
33 year old Richard Ott of Carmi was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant. The report indicates Ott was taken into custody at his residence on Shipley Street in Carmi.
30 year old Larry Tyree of Carmi was arrested Monday morning around 1am on a felony warrant out of White County. Tyree is being held pending $500 bond.
23 year old Keaton Pollard was arrested Sunday evening at Hucks in Carmi. The Crossville resident was picked up on a misdemeanor warrant arrest.
62 year old Danny Harris of Carmi reports to White County Sheriff’s authorities that sometime last week, a vehicle performed “donuts” on property owned by Harris Brothers Farms at 1673 County Road 1920 East in rural Carmi. Harris says the vehicle did damage, causing ruts on the property. A criminal damage to property complaint was formally filed Friday morning.
Pancakes led to a fight on Saturday that resulted in a Domestic Battery incident report Saturday afternoon in Crossville. 53 year old Sherman Hilborn and 57 year old Patti Hyatt admitted they argue everyday and agreed Hilborn has been living with Hyatt since he was released from jail last time he’d been arrested for domestic battery against Hyatt. Hyatt accused Hilborn of hitting her on the left arm. Hilborn denied it. Hyatt reported she didn’t want to sign a complaint but did want Hilborn removed from the residence. Stay tuned on this one.
DCFS is being called in to investigate following a weekend babysitting battery incident. According to the Sheriff’s report, Adrienne Newman and Crystal Meriwether have been friends for some time and Adrienne’s 2 year old daughter spent the night with Meriwether Friday night. On Saturday morning, Meriwether advised she left for work at Pundrakes around 7:45am leaving Newman’s child with her own son. When Meriwether returned home around 11:20am, she says she noticed a red mark on the 2 year old’s face and her son refused to tell her what had happened. At that point, Meriwether returned to work with the 2 year old and her 17 year old son and subsequently contacted Newman to ask her to meet them at the convenience store. With Sheriff’s authorities present by then, White County Ambulance provided transport of the 2 year old to Hamilton Memorial Hospital for a well being check. Newman then signed an aggravated battery complaint against the 17 year old. He was taken to the Sheriff’s Department and released to the custody of his father.
Saturday morning, 76 year old Ruth Williams of Crossville reached out to White County Sheriff’s authorities to report a theft from her property on 1st Street. She says sometime between noon and 3pm on Friday, someone took 3 wind chimes and 4 yard ornaments.
Saturday evening around 11:35pm, 22 year old Timothy Wilson of Enfield reached out to the Sheriff’s Department. He reports that he and his girlfriend left their Enfield home on North Street at around 8pm and upon their return found that someone had entered their home and taken their 42 inch Sanyo Flat Screen TV. Wilson says they had just recently moved into the home and hadn’t yet unpacked everything, but believed it was the only thing missing.
Four Runaways were reported from Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi over the weekend. Only one has returned. The first 3 were reported just after 11pm Friday night while the other was reported around 8pm Sunday night. The three still unaccounted for are described as a 13 year old white male, 5’3”, about 101 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes; a 15 year old white male, 5’5”, about 125 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes last seen wearing gray sweatpants, gray shoes and a dark green sweatshirt; a 16 year old black male, about 5’10”, 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. The 14 year old white male reported as a runaway on Sunday returned the same evening about 10pm. The juveniles still at large have been entered into the LEADS/NCIC database.
