FMH Starts a Better Breathers Club

Do you or a loved one suffer from COPD or asthma and could use additional guidance and support? Fairfield Memorial Hospital is starting a Better Breathers Club in collaboration with the American Lung Association.

More than 35 million Americans live with a chronic lung disease like asthma and COPD (which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis), pulmonary fibrosis or lung cancer. Through education and support programs for those living with a lung disease, Fairfield Memorial Hospital hopes to reduce the burden of living with a lung disease.

Our trained facilitators at FMH will teach ways to cope with living with a chronic lung disease. This support group is open to anyone who would like to learn more about these conditions and strategies for living with this disease.

The FMH Better Breathers Club will meet monthly on the third Monday of each month starting at 3pm in the Medical Arts Complex Education Rooms. The first club meeting will be held on June 17th. This month’s topic will be “Tips and Tricks for the Proper Use of Inhalers and Nebulizers” presented by FMH Cardiopulmonary Director, Kindra Schnicker, RRT, RCP, CCT. Light refreshments will be served.

Please attend, share with others, and come ready to enjoy life! For more information on the FMH Better Breathers Club, please contact FMH Care Coordinator Brenda Ware-Roge, BSN, at (618) 847-8349.
