Legion Baseball
Well, the rains came and play ended for the Carmi American Legion Baseball team as they played host to Evansville Pate.
The teams made it to the third inning with Carmi trailing the Evansville team 5 to 1.
Evansville Pate scored four times in the second inning and added another run in the third. Carmi had only put one run on the scoreboard when the game was called due to the rain.
Plans are to pick the game up when Carmi travels to Pate on July 3.
The local legion team was scheduled to play Princeton, Ind Friday, but that game was cancelled as the Princeton Legion was unable to field a team this season.
The next game for the locals will be a double header at Harrisburg Sunday. If the weather cooperates the games will get underway at 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
The next home game for the Carmi Legion team will be Wednesday, June 12 against Poseyville, Ind.
