Legion Baseball Wins
The Carmi American Legion baseball team defeated Mt. Vernon, INd., 12 to 7 Tuesday evening in Posey County.
Sauls picked up the win on the mound for the Carmi team.
Scoring for Carmi were Richardson with one run, Simmons with three, Skaggs with two, Black with one, Blazier scored twice, with York, Lamont and Mendenhall adding a run each for the 12 runs.
Carmi scored two runs in the first inning, while Mt. Vernon remained scoreless until the fourth inning.
Carmi answered with another run in the fifth, but Mt. Vernon responded with a run in the sixth and seventh innings. The eighth inning was big for Carmi as eight local hitters made it across home plate, while Mt. Vernon scored four in the eighth.
The locals are now two and one on the season. Their next game is tonight, weather permitting, here at home as the Carmi Legion hosts Evansville Pate at 7 p.m.
