Sheriff’s Reports
It was another busy weekend for the White County Sheriff’s Department, which included a meth bust, two theft reports, an aggravated battery report and a report of criminal trespass to property.
Early Monday morning, White County Sheriff’s Sgt. Craig Poole observed a vehicle on State and Main Streets in Crossville. According to the incident report released by White County Sheriff Doug Maier, Sgt. Poole observed the vehicle pull into a parking lot and at that time questioned the driver, who was identified as Matthew D. Allen, 36 of Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
A check on Allen revealed his was driving on a suspended/revoked license, at which time he was placed in custody. Authorities then searched Allen’s vehicle and discovered a glass smoking pipe with burnt residue along with a plastic measuring cup, one bag containing 11 plastic bags, with one containing white powder residue. There was also a bag containing white crystals, that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
At that time Allen was transported to the city county jail in Carmi for processing. He is facing charges of driving while license suspended or revoked; possession of methamphetamine, manufacture of delivery of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Allen was busted shortly after midnight Monday morning.
Allen remained in custody Monday morning. His vehicle was towed from the scene by Don’s Bumper to Bumper.
Sunday, the sheriff’s department received a report of theft form Ricky D. Duckworth of 36 County Road 1500 North, Enfield. Duckworth reported the theft of a hay rake, valued at $300 to $500. He indicated the rake was taken from a field sometime in the past couple of weeks.
Destiny Sauls of 104 East Fourth Street, Norris City, reported criminal tresspass to property Sunday. According to the report, Eric L. Woodlums, 41 of 401 S. Johnson Street, Norris City had been told to stay out of the Smith Company Convenience Store. Sauls reported Woodlums was at the store and refused to leave. When authorities arrived they asked Woodlums if he was aware he was not allowed on the property. He said he was and asked to be arrested. He was transported to the City County Jail in carmi without incident for processing.
Saturday, 27 year old Jonathan Smock, a City County Jail corrections officer was injured in an altercation with federal inmate, Cameron M. King, 23 of Evansville, Ind.
Smock was transported to Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, where it was determined his nose was broke.
King was held in isolation for some time, but was later returned to his cell.
Friday evening, the sheriff’s department received a report of theft from Crossville resident, Louis L Evans of 801 N. State Street. Evans reported his golf cart was stolen, as it was no longer where he parked it. Evans filed the report shortly before 1 Friday afternoon.
The report noted the golf cart was recovered around 9 Saturday morning, in the back yard at 408 Rawlinson Street. Apparently someone had driven the golf cart into the back yard and it was stuck in the mud. The incident report noted the cart was pulled from the mud and returned to Evans.
