Sheriff’s April Report

Sheriff’s Report

White County Sheriff Doug Maier released his monthly report early as the sheriff will not be at next week’s county board meeting.

The report noted there are currently 65 prisoners housed at the City County Jail. The inmate population includes 20 White County prisoners, 30 federal, four from Hamilton County and nine from Edwards County.

The sheriff and deputies responded to 363 calls for service last month. There were a total of 1,542 calls to dispatch; 436 were 911 calls, with 1106 non-911 calls in April.

Maier indicated jail revenue for the month was $78,797, with $9,000 received for dispatch services. Revenue from the sheriff’s office was $2,634.

The sheriff reported Advance Corrections Healthcare will begin providing services to the jail and prisoners beginning May 23. That decision was made at a county board meeting earlier this year. Maier also indicated there will be training for all of the correctional officers on May 22 and 23.
