NCOE School Board Accepts Election Results

The NCOE Board of Education held their monthly meeting April 17th in the Superintendent’s office. The minutes and the bills for the month were approved as presented.

The April 2nd election results were accepted for Board Members. Paul Black, Lincoln Hobbs, and Matt McArthy were reseated on the Board. Officers were chosen with a 2 year term as follows: Joe Lane, President; Karen Weiss, Vice President; and Paul Black, Secretary.

The board amended the meeting date for next month from Wednesday, May 16, to Wednesday, May 22.

With the school year winding down, the Principals updated the Board with several dates of upcoming events. The State History Fair will be May 2nd and NCO has 7 students attending. Eighth grade graduations will be May 20th at 6:00 for NCO and 7:30 p.m. for Booth. NCO and Booth are having several class field trips this month. Mr. Haley presented the board with the progress of the new district and school website and app development. The new website and app will be very user-friendly containing pertinent information for students and parents as well as a calendar for all school events. The new website and app should be finalized for the start of the next school year.

The annual senior class trip will be the week of May 6th. The Golf Scramble will be held May 4th and this year will be in honor Mr. Dan Price. The Ministerial Alliance will host a party for the high school and 8th grade graduates on May 13th. Baccalaureate will be at 7 p.m. May 15th at the high school auditorium. Senior Honors will begin at 10 a.m. on May 10th; and Senior graduation May 17th at 7:00 p.m with the drug and alcohol free party beginning at 10:00 p.m.

Last day of student attendance for the school district is May 22nd.

The NCOE Jr. High Volleyball team was congratulated for winning 2nd place at state. Mr. Foster congratulated all of the jr. high athletes for successful seasons this school year.

Kindergarten graduations will be May 21st at 8:30 a.m. at Booth and 9:00 am at NCO. The Pre-k completion ceremony will be May 21st at 6:00 p.m. Kindergarten registration for NCO was April 15th and will be April 25th at Booth.

The Board hired Stephen Humphrey, jr. high baseball coach; Jordan Johnson, golf coach; and Amy Jacobs, aide.
