FMH Annual Awards Dinner

FAIRFIELD MEMORIAL HOSPITAL ANNUAL VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION & AWARDS DINNER

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Fairfield Memorial Hospital honored Volunteers for their service and dedication by hosting the Annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Dinner on Monday, April 15.  The event was held in the Fellowship Hall of the Fairfield First United Methodist Church. Dinner was prepared and served by the Methodist Men’s Group of the church with over 50 people in attendance.

The evening began with Mariah McDaniel, Volunteer Coordinator, welcomed everyone in attendance and thanked them for their selflessness and dedication by volunteering at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Ms. McDaniel introduced the members of Administration who were in attendance. Ms. McDaniel also recognized the 2019 Auxiliary Officers & Committee Chairs. Pastor Donna Blythe then gave the invocation prior to dinner being served.

Following dinner, Ms. McDaniel introduced Katherine Bunting-Williams, CEO, who presented information about the history of the hospital and future plans for expansion of Fairfield Memorial Hospital. Dr. Williams noted that the volunteers that are being recognized tonight for years of service have volunteered a combined total of 39,800 hours since they began volunteering at FMH. New Auxiliary members in 2018, were introduced: Michael Knight, June Weedon, Vieva Shelton, Cindy Sager, Terry Schuh, and Marlene McIntosh. It was reported that FMH Volunteers worked over 9,800 hours in 2018.

Dr. Bunting-Williams then came forward to present cumulative hour awards to the following volunteers:

100 Hour Pin & Bar – Pauline Pruitt, Terry Schuh, and Mary Joan Sons

500 Hour Bar – Teresa Hill, Phyllis Hilliard, Cynthia Sheraden, Carol Brach, and Tim Smith

1,000 Hour Bar – Susan Brake, Lorna Norton, and Denise Beehn

11,000 Hour Bar – Pat Kenshalo

Special recognition was given to Maxine Talbert, who is 100 years old and is the sole remaining charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary, which was established when the hospital opened in 1950.

As a token of appreciation, FMH’s Administration gave out over $350 in gift cards to local businesses in various increments, as door prizes to those Volunteers lucky enough to have their name drawn.

“Fairfield Memorial Hospital is fortunate to have such a remarkable group of volunteers, who have selflessly volunteered their time to our patients and our organization. They are the core of our organization and we would not be here today without their assistance. There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer and our volunteers give with all of their hearts, for which we are eternally grateful.” stated Katherine Bunting-Williams, CEO of Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
