Graham Prison Bound

Graham; Prison Bound

A Carmi man has been sentenced to ten years in prison on an aggravated battery and escape charge.

According to White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud, 30 year old Cedrick Graham was sentenced Monday in White County Circuit Court to five years in prison on the aggravated battery charge, a Class 3 felony and five years on the escape charge, also a class 3 felony.

Graham will serve one year mandatory supervised release on both charges.

The prison terms will be served consecutively, meaning he will serve 10 years. Graham was on bond via home detention for the aggravated battery charge when he committed the escape offense.

Aud indicated additional charges could be filed against Graham based upon an incident when he was taken into custody, but cautioned as the case with any defendant, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Graham was represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle.

Judge T. Scott Webb handed down the sentence at the conclusion of the evidence presentation and arguments, which included witness testimony, videos and photographs.
