March Busy for White County Sheriff’s Department

Sheriff’s Report

 

White County Sheriff Doug Maier presented the County Board with a complete report from his office as well as the City County Jail Tuesday.

Revenue from the White County jail in March was $122,133 and fifty cents. The inmate population was at 56, with 19 of the prisoners from White County. There were 37 out of town jail residents.

Income for the sherif’s department and jail totaled close to $125,000. Total expenditures for the sheriff’s department were just over $26,000; jail expenses were $16,895, the courthouse/annex expenses were $5800 and the sheriff’s department expenditures were just over $3300 for the $26,000 total.

 

The Sheriff’s Department made a total of 377 service calls in March. That includes nine traffic accidents, five warrant arrests, 143 requests for officers, five motorists assist, 14 theft reports and seven responses to domestic disputes. The sheriff and deputies responded to six reports of traffic hazards, five responses to animal problems, two responses to loud music complaints and one response to an illegal operation of a four wheeler.

There were 18 responses to reckless driver complaints, four responses to burglary calls, seven alarm calls and 48 responses to 911 hang-ups.

Four welfare checks were conducted, five abandoned vehicles  and four responses to livestock on the roadway rounded out the 377 service calls for March.

White County Dispatch handled 1318 calls for service last month.
