Grayville Council Meeting
The Grayville City Council met for the first of its two monthly meetings Monday night, approving additional oil well drilling on city property.
The commissioners heard from Rian Waterbury and Randy Fischer of Fischer Oil concerning additional oil prospects in the city. Following Waterbury and Fischer’s presentation, and at the recommendation of the Grayville Zoning Board of Appeals, the commissioners will allow two oil wells to be drilled near the original industrial park. The commissioners also approved a one-eighth override on the wells. There is no expected surface disturbance to city property and no royalty interested was requested.
Marionette Blood and Lana Pierson were reappointed to the library board. Linda Bova will replace Phil Blair on that board. Blair is retiring. All three will serve three-year terms.
Commissioner David Jordan was named to the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission’s Bike Path Steering Committee to study the possibility of a bike/walking path from Grayville to New Harmony, Ind..
A lift and steps for the swimming pool purchase was approved for just over $7,000. The items will aid in making the pool ADA accessible.
The purchase of a bed-liner, tool box, graphic logos and lights for the recently purchase truck for the sewer department were approved, as was the purchase of another Ford F150 pickup for the utility department. That truck will be purchased from Sternberg Ford in Dale, Indiana at a accost of $23,855.
The Hall and Shorb purchase of railroad right of way, was approved with an amended purchase agreement, as there was some confusion as to the amount of property to be purchased.
There was no action on vacating High Street, a topic that has been brought to the council on numerous occasions.
A request from Christine Tomlinson for TIF One funding in the amount of $10,998 was approved. The money will allow Tomlinson to repair a downtown building.
The Grayville Council will meet again Monday, April 22.
