Coroner Says Weather Claimed Naylor’s Life

 

Gallatin County Coroner Tony Cox released the cause of death for Brook Naylor late Saturday night, following an autopsy conducted earlier in the day.

Cox said the 20 year old former Carmi woman died of hypothermia due to exposure to the elements.

Illinois State police reported finding Brooke’s body Friday evening in rural Gallatin County, explaining a member of the search team found her near Pot Hole Lane. She had been missing since last Sunday, March 3. Her car was found abandoned about halfway between Illinois Route 142 and Illinois Route 1 on the Ridgway Eldorado Blacktop.

Search teams spent the biggest part of the week trying to locate Naylor, but were unsuccessful until late Friday afternoon.
On behalf of the family and friends, Illinois State Police thanked all of the numerous volunteers for their generous donation of time and resources during the exhaustive search. Friday, search teams consisted of walkers, folks on horses and a number of four-wheelers and utility vehicles.

 

Naylor is the daughter of David and Karla Roser of Carmi. She graduated from Carmi White County High School as a Valedictorian in 2016. She graduated from Southeastern Illinois College last year and had been working aat Morello’s Restaurant and Catering in Harrisburg.
