Farm Bureau Hosts 98th Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the White County Farm Bureau, held on Friday, January 18, marked the 98th annual gathering of the membership.
Larry Beck, President of the White County Farm Bureau, welcomed around 80 members and guests to the meeting.
The business meeting included approval of last year’s minutes, financial reports, membership report, Manager’s Report, affiliate reports, updates on the Young Leader Committee, Ag in the Classroom, and Illinois Farm Bureau.
Larry Beck of Carmi was re-elected to serve as President. Bryce Williams of Enfield was re-elected as Vice President. Jeff Young of Grayville was elected as the new Secretary Treasurer, replacing retiring Kevin Seifried, also of Grayville. All three officers will serve a one-year term.
Members also elected five district directors… Brandon Barbre of Carmi was re-elected in District 1. Newly elected directors were Bryan Tomm of Carmi in District 2 and Phil Healy from Norris City for District 3. Each of these three will serve a three-year term. Fulfilling out the remaining one-year term of Jeff Young in District 1 is Mallory Thompson from Crossville. Vance Burzynski of Norris City resigned his District 3 position in order to complete the 1-year term of retiring At-Large Director Brooks York.
Larry Beck recognized three retiring directors. Retiring from the board were Kevin Seifried, Brooks York, and Mike Wicker.
Martin Barbre, a farmer from Carmi, gave a talk on his growth in various local, state, and national agricultural organizations, and the importance of being an advocate for the agricultural industry.
Winners of the Ag in the Classroom Trivia were Ken Lamont of Crossville and Ralph Duvall of rural Carmi. Lunch and door prizes concluded the annual meeting.
