Semi Crash on Interstate

Semi’s Crash on Interstate

 

Illinois State Police responded to a two truck crash on Interstate 64, at mile marker 97 just before 1 Wednesday afternoon.

The crash sent a passenger in one of the vehicles to a local hospital.

According to the incident report, 23 year old Joseph Wright of Evansville, driving a Peterbilt armored truck, struck the rear of a Freightliner truck-tractor, semi-trailer combination as the semi tried to merge onto the Interstate from the right hand shoulder of the highway.

Robert A. Ijames 34, of Calhoun, Ky, was a passenger in the armored truck and he was injured in the crash.

The driver of the semi truck, David Huffman, 40 of Lebanon Junction, Ky, was not injured in the crash.

Failure to reduce speed was listed as the cause of the crash, with Wright was ticketed for. Huffman was cited for driving on a flat tire.

Illinois state police were assisted at the scene by Wayne City Ambulance, Wayne County Ambulance, Wayne City Fire Department, Sully’s Towing of Evansville and the Illinois Department of transportation.
